ADT Contacts,
I joined ADT in 1972 just to get a job and later attend law school. I was bitten by the ADT bug and never stopped working in the Alarm Business. I tried to leave several times by buying a Health Care Franchise and even getting into the internet business. I am sure we would all agree that there is no business like the alarm business. I met guys like Bill Conaty and Mike Kennelly who have remained my close friends for years. I have worked up and down the East Coast from NY to GA.
I have traveled all over the country to find people I never met that know my 2 friends and many others who have worked for ADT.
I have been in Atlanta, GA for 14 years and have enjoyed meeting ADT employees and sharing common stories concering the firm.
There is one thing that we all have in common about the alarm business. Once you are bitten by the ADT bug, it is hard to recover. We go to work for other companies in the industry and meet some of our old ADT buddies or even we get hired by some of them.
I have always maintained the Alarm business is like a revolving door. The employees that leave ADT go to other companies only to find one thing. The relationships that were developed at ADT are unlike any other company. This is due to the culture of the people (good honest hard working folks that loved thier job and the people around them). The old ADT customers from time to time will leave ADT only to discover that the good and honest hard working people that provided service are no longer there and their service reflects same. Therefore they leave in pursuit of better service and people they can trust and enjoy to do business with.
At 61, I am still on the Merry Go Round of the Alarm Business and still having fun. I also still stay in contact with my friends in PA, MD, VA, and GA.
Therefore, I appreciate the opportunity for this blog.
PS I will never get rich from the alarm business but it has taught me how to make money. Therefore, to stay busy and to get rich after retirement, my latest investment has been in the Internet business. A great Internet site for the future is www.pmmy.com check it out and we'll talk later.
Sincerely,
John Hayes, PhD.
